Many other large organizations have realized the value of group buying power and have partnered with major providers to build these programs for their members. BCTF decided to put together a program covering various common needs (insurance, travel and some retail) to offer custom services and discounts to members and their families.
BCTF needed a trusted partner to advise, build and administer the plan. The program is directed by the BCTF Affinity Subcommittee and reports to the Executive Committee (EC) regularly. This way, the components of the plan are vetted by BCTF and line up with the mandate given by EC for the Advantage program. Canadian Direct Insurance was subjected to a stringent list of criteria for the delivery of this program and offers extensive experience and administrative capacity to deliver the appropriate program to members.
No. BCTF members are subject to the same eligibility requirements as other Canadian Direct Insurance customers. It is important to realize that Canadian Direct Insurance cannot insure every risk but rest assured they will do their best to accommodate BCTF Members.
Currently there are other partners such as Industrial Alliance Pacific, who has been an insurance supplier to BCTF for over 20 years, and some other exciting new partners too. They are all selected carriers with specific custom offers in the BCTF Advantage Program.
There are discounts on certain products and customized offers on others. There are also special offers exclusively for Advantage Members. When new offers are added all Advantage Members will be notified.
Absolutely not. No personal information is exchanged between BCTF and any of the BCTF Advantage partners.

All purchases made by Advantage Members count towards an annual revenue stream back to the BCTF. The goal is to provide great benefits to BCTF members, while supporting the work of the organization as a whole. The long term mandate of the plan is to be cost neutral to the BCTF.
